„Vienna Young Philharmonic Orchestra“ is Austria’s elite orchestra of young talents, which is musically fashioned in the Viennese tradition (Mozart, Mahler).
It was founded in 1997 by conductor Michael Lessky and important musicians of Viennese orchestras as Wiener Philharmoniker and Wiener Symphoniker. The career of the orchestra is worth to be shown: it has already played concerts with Agnes Baltsa, Elina Garanca, José Carreras and Dave Brubeck and at the International Schönberg-Festival it has acted two times as official cultural embassador of Austria in China and every neighboring country of Austria. In 2011 the orchestra was guests at the big festival “Hallo Austria” in Germany.
The „Vienna Young Philharmonic Orchestra“ cultivates a broad, international repertoire of concerts, operas, jazz & modern music.
The youth orchestra consists of approx. 320 performers who have to qualify at auditions, taking place once a year in every Austrian provincial capital. During the rehearsal periods experienced musicians especially from the Vienna Philharmonic lavish care on every part.
